By FRAN FARRER

CONCORD, NC – On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, the City of Concord issued a proclamation indicating that February 1, 2018 is Warren C. Coleman Day.

History records that, Mr. Warren C. Coleman was the richest man in America on or about 1900. With his own money he built his own house, approximately 100 houses in the community, purchased a 17 acre lot for people to be buried, his church - Price Memorial AME Zion Church, and a 196,000 square foot manufacturing mill.

The Council and the city realized that Coleman was an outstanding citizen who must be celebrated on a regular basis. In addition, the Council agreed that a Coleman festival will take place on Union Street February 24, 2018 from noon to 5 p.m. In case of rain or extreme cold the festival will take place the following Saturday.

The AME Zion and the City of Concord have partnered for a successful festival to acknowledge the committed life of Warren C. Coleman to the advancement of the City of Concord and Cabarrus County.

Vendors are welcome to vend on Union Street, and all are welcomed to attend.
