By FRAN FARRER

CHARLOTTE, NC – Marcus T. Davis has the distinct honor of being the first recipient to be awarded a $500.00 academic foundation scholarship from “A Servant’s Heart Charitable Foundation in partnership with Greenville Memorial AME Zion Church.” The Foundation, hereafter referred to as ASHCF, was founded eight years ago by Executive Director, Kimberly Indresano to focus on assisting high school seniors that demonstrate the desire for scholastic achievement, servant leadership, and are committed to making a significant impact in their schools and communities to pursue a post-graduate degree and accomplish their life’s dream.

Davis attends Mallard Creek High School where he is a member of the National Honor Society – carrying a 4.9 GPA; National Technical Honor Society; and the Academy of Engineering; as well as being a member of the National Society of Black Engineers. In addition, Marcus is a dedicated volunteer for the Second Harvest Food Bank, and an active participant in the youth ministry at Greenville Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church.

Indresano, ASHCF Executive Director, said Marcus was the ideal recipient for the award as he demonstrated strong character, displayed a passion for supporting his community, and his overall scholastic achievement proved his dedication to higher learning.

Excited about the scholarship program's recent growth, the ASHCF Steering Committee has approved two additional scholarships for the coming year.
