Mitchell expanding services in North Iredell

Statesville, NC –Mitchell Community College recently announced it will begin holding classes for the general Mitchell student population at the Agriculture and Science Early College (ASEC), located on the campus of North Iredell High School (NIHS) in Fall 2018 semester. Mitchell classes on the campus of NIHS were previously only open to students of the ASEC, one of Mitchell’s three early college partnerships.

The construction of a new 4–classroom building has allowed for expanded offerings, providing the College a footprint in the northern part of the county and allowing north Iredell residents greater ease of access to seated classes. Currently, eleven courses are scheduled to be held at the ASEC in the Fall 2018 semester. “Our partnership with Iredell-Statesville Schools continues to provide opportunities for our students and for the citizens of Iredell County,” said Dr. Camille Reese, Vice President for Instruction at Mitchell. “We are excited for this expansion of services, and we look forward to continuing to grow options for students of all ages in the northern part of the county.”

Parking passes will be needed for Mitchell students taking classes at the ASEC, and students must meet eligibility requirements to attend classes where minors are present. Iredell-Statesville Schools will verify eligibility prior to the start of classes.
